Many older people in Brussels is proud over the World Expo held in Brussels 1958th. After World War II, it was no longer possible to gather the broad manifestations and Expo 58 was the first expo after the war.
The famous Atomium monument was built for the Expo ’58 and it is still a landmark. One of the original ideas for Expo was to build an upside-down version of the Eiffel tower; however, the designer André Waterkeyn felt that a 102 meter tall atomic structure would be more symbolic of the new era – the atomic age…
